Many Ways To Care For Your Nails

By: Jen Hopkins

We are often very cautious of how we style and groom our hair because how it looks, including its texture and shine, is critical to the over-all appearance of our face. Same goes for our nails, it is not enough to have soft and smooth hands but it is essential to have healthy and clean nails as well.

As a matter of fact the status of the nails speaks a lot about one's personality and nail care regimen. Dirty and poorly kept nails not only contribute to the unpleasant appearance of one's hand but it is also a manifestation that the person has poor grooming habits.

If you go out and mingle with other people wearing your most fancy clothes and most gorgeous make-up, it will be to no avail if you have poorly kept finger nails. People will still think less of you because it will appear that you only notice the big things but fail to take care of the little things that also matter.

You need to keep a regular nail care regimen to take care of your nails, thereby, giving it the attention it truly deserves. One of these practices may include softening the nails by using nail creams and soaking the hands in warm water.

Apart from the usual practice of keeping the hands clean there are a lot more things that you can do to ensure that your nails are truly taken cared of. One popular nail care tip includes, avoiding removing the nail cuticles completely, but rather just pushing it gently with an orange stick to prevent infection.

Should you want to have shiny fingernails without resorting to nail polish, you could massage the nails with petroleum jelly and then gently rub them with soft cloth. If you have a problem removing nail stains you could bathe your hands in a cup of water with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

To harden soft nails you can try dipping your hand for 30 minutes in warm olive oil, every other day. If you have problems mending dull, brittle or split nails, taking Vitamin B5, Organic Silica and Methylsulfonylmethane supplements will help you address it.

If you want to avoid having yellow tint on the surface of your nails, you should have a nail polish-break every now and then. If you are also in the habit of biting your nails you should stop it considering that it damages your nails and cuticles. Moreover, if your nails break or split during filing you should try filing it after you have applied the nail polish.

These are just some of the most critical ways to maintain the luster and good condition of your nails. As you may have observed, there is a lot more to nail care than just simply washing our hands. You could start your regular nail care routine using the things mentioned above then on your own discover more practices which are more suited to your needs.
