Their work will generally involve the prevention and treamtnet of tooth and gum disease, fixing any irregular tooth or gum and working on other dental injuries.Dental NurseThe dental nurse works in tandem with the main dentist as they go about their work on a daily basis. This will mainly be working alongside the dentist as they carry out their work by preparing dentistry materials and the instruments used to carry out the work. They will also assist the patients to ensure their comfort during treatment.A dental nurse may also provide support in terms of reception and admin work.Dental HygienistA dental hygienist will carry out the treatment of existing dental issues, generally via scaling and polishing a patients teeth whilst giving them advice on how to best look after their teeth in the future by offering tips on cleaning and flossing. In doing so they look to give the patient the best chance of maintaining a healthy set of gums and teeth moving forward.The OrthodontistAn orthodontist's role will see them focus on how to alter a patients bite in order to regulate the amount of pressue they apply on their teeth. This will be done by straightening out and moving misaligned teeth in order to not only improve their function but also their appearance. This work will be carried out by producing bespoke braces.Dental TechnicianA dental technician will make the dentures, bridges, braces and crowns as prescribed by the dentist for each individual patient. For this they will use a number of materials such as gold, porcelain and plastic to put together bespoke oral solutions.
